Mia Fontenot
she/her

Speech and Language Pathologist

Mia is from Dallas, Texas and recently moved to Austin. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and her master’s degree at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Prior to OT Connection, her experience included working in private practice and early intervention settings. Mia has worked with various populations and has experience with various diagnoses including but not limited to: expressive/receptive language disorders, pragmatic language skills, articulation/phonology disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities. One of her goals is to determine what is best for each specific and family. As she figures out what makes child special and motivated, it is important to develop a meaningful working relationship with both the child and family. In her free time, she likes to take long walks with her dog, trying new restaurants as well as spending time with friends and family! 

Val Schiefen

Speech and Language Pathologist

Val grew up in Sugar Land, Texas, and moved to the Austin area to pursue her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Texas State University’s medical branch in Round Rock. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Houston and currently holds her Speech-Language Pathologist Intern license in Texas. Val has experience working with children in outpatient clinics and school settings and is passionate about supporting children with swallowing disorders, Gestalt Language Processing, and those in early childhood intervention. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with her cats

Hannah Tubbs

Speech and Language Pathologist

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’ve been a speech-language pathologist for 7 years, working with children of all ages, 2 – 21 years and diagnoses from Autism, ADHD, speech disorders, fluency, and more. I love working with littles and focusing on functional communication skills within their natural environment and in sessions. I’m a first-time mom to my baby girl, Jackie and cat-mom of 2. I’ve lived in Austin for the past 3 years and enjoy going to coffee shops, breweries, paddleboarding, and any parks. I also really enjoy listening to audiobooks and podcasts all about fantasy and true crime. I’m looking forward to working with you and your child!

Leah Rodriguez

Speech and Language Pathologist

Leah was born and raised in New Jersey and recently moved to Texas to begin her career as a speech-language pathologist. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Disorders from Mercy University and holds her SLP-Intern license in the state of Texas. Leah has experience working with children across various settings, supporting those with developmental delays, feeding and swallowing disorders, sensory-based feeding challenges, and complex communication needs. She is passionate about early intervention, feeding therapy, play-based intervention, and the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to foster meaningful connections and functional communication. She is committed to building strong, supportive relationships with each child and their family, ensuring therapy is personalized, engaging, and enjoyable. In her free time, Leah enjoys trying new restaurants with friends, spending time with her cat, and shopping.
 

Amy Opersteny

Speech and Language Pathologist / Speech Therapy Team Lead

Amy grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and has been in Austin working as an SLP here since June 2023. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. Amy currently holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed by the state of Texas to practice Speech Language Pathology. Amy has experience working with various populations including the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory processing disorder, expressive/receptive language disorders, articulation/phonological disorders, social communication disorders, and many more. She values creating meaningful relationships with her patients and their families, making each child’s experience individualized and full of fun. In her free time, she likes to cook, go to the movies, and try new restaurants with friends. 

Caroline Adam

Speech and Language Pathologist

Caroline Adam is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Texas and Missouri. She earned both her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences as well as her Master of Health Sciences in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Missouri.  Caroline has experience primarily in the school and private practice settings and all throughout the lifespan. This includes working with those with receptive and expressive language disorders, articulation disorders, childhood apraxia of speech,  and phonological processing disorders. Caroline grew up in Missouri’s state capital but currently lives in Austin. Caroline enjoys reading, going to concerts, and spending time with family.
