Leigh Wartella received her BA in Psychology from West Virginia University, and OTA degree from Mountain State University. She has been a COTA for 11 years. She has practiced in various settings including; Pediatric Outpatient Rehab, Pediatric Home Health, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Long Term Care, Assistive Living, and Adult Home Health. For the past 6 years she has been working with children of trauma with varying types of sensory processing disorders at Helping Hand Home a Residential Treatment Center in Austin, and in the community. While working at Helping Hand Home she has assisted with writing individualized sensory diets, issuing sensory equipment with protocols, and writing home exercise plans to meet each child’s sensory needs. Continued Education and areas of practice Include; Feeding Therapy with the “Try it Approach”, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Interventions, Sensory Processing Disorder, Sensory Diet Strategies, and Traumatic Brain Injury using the RIC approach.
Leigh enjoys; hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog Miles.
